I have a loved one there. When I call, they are very nice. I really like her doctor. He seems to genuinely care and wants to do all he can to get her the medical treatment she needs. Her therapist is also concerned and wants to do all he can to help her. I truly feel in my heart that God placed her here. Especially compared to the other places we have dealt with in the past. Thanks Woodridge for the respect, care and professionalism that all places should strive to have.
The staff there aren't great. There were only about 3 nurses that were actually nice and I was told by one of the doctors "your in a psychiatric hospital no one will believe you anyway" and even being out interacting with people and constantly smiling and laughing (from the other patients) I had to stay longer because "I still have a dark cloud over my head" and I was automatically labeled a "detoxing alcoholic" because I had drank ONE NIGHT 2 days before I even went there. Had to go to AA classes and everything. I honestly and truly came out much more depressed then when I went in.. I wouldn't send anyone there. Even bad people don't deserve to go there. If I could've rated 0 stars I would!
Please never send a love one here. My family was declined visits or phone calls for four days only to realize a medical emergency had happened and she was sent to a hospital for treatment. We were never informed and even after we found out they refuse to talk w us or return phone calls. They do not involve family at all!!!! Please do not place a loved one in their hands!
I had a terrible experience at Woodridge. Came out feeling more depressed and anxious than before I went there. They treat you like criminals regardless of the reason for you being there. I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. It seemed to me that all the doctors care about was slapping some label on you and over medicating you. They told me I was ADD, bipolar, and manic depressive...? That seems excessive to me. I am not any of those. I may have depression but so does 80% of people you meet. They act like since you are depressed, their big solution is heavily medicating you. They strip search you (how humiliating) regardless of your history with self harm ( I have never self harmed yet I still had to bend and cough). I had a couple of good nurses that actually cared but for the most part I wanted to get the heck out of there. If you are having trouble with mental issues, I would strongly recommend seeking some other form of professional help. I will never go back there, and I would never want anyone I know to have to experience what I did. 7 years later, I am a completely normally functioning adult, and Woodridge is not the reason
Parents!! Please do not send your children or your loved ones to this awful place! My son was sent there and each time he came home it was back to square one with his addiction! This place needs to be closed down for the treatment of some in there. They are more harmful than helpful!!!!!!! NO STARS for them.
