I also had a rude woman cashier check me out when I first bought the books at the beginning of the semester. I was wanting to see if the store could buy back my summer book, but she told me that the store couldn't buy back books until the end of the semester. I thought this was odd because I had brought books before for the store to buy back, and it wasn't the end of the semester. So she gave me my receipt and sent me on my way. However, before I left the store, I asked another worker the same question, "when does the store buy back books?" And the other worker answered that the book store buys them back at ANYTIME. Go figure...used to be a loyal customer at SBX but now I will never shop there again.
You would think that a book store that is intended to provide college students with the necessary materials would be prepared for an upcoming semester and stock their shelves with enough books. That is not the case. Not even close.
Normally I would not go out of my way to write a poor review on a store. After many unsatisfied trips to SBX I felt inclined to share my experience. The older lady that usually works behind the counter is probably one of the rudest most hatful sales associates I have come across. Like I said, she has been rude on many occasions. It is very unnecessary and really just annoying. Ill use Amazon anytime I can now, even if it means waiting a few extra days.
An oasis for book lovers. I am a part-time graduate student at ETSU and found Ms. Vance and her assistants to be extremely helpful. I did overhear a few seemingly entitled undergraduates complaining about prices. All retail businesses function on a markup based on the wholesale price. Thus, complaints and whines burden an individual, in this case a salesperson, with the buyer's problems. Marking limits can seem like rudeness. It is not. Retail is difficult. You can satisfy some of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time. Respect and be respected. Demonstrate rudeness and reap the same. SBX is an asset to the community and the staff volunteers in neighborhood social agencies.
I had rented two books for the fall semester. However, when I went to return them, I found out that I had only rented one book instead of both. I distinctly remember saying I wanted to rent them both, and now I cannot return the other book or get my money back for it.
Staff very helpful when I returned my rented books. Found what I needed easily.
